This is a picture of my Grandma Dee, her husband Bill, my dad, and me. It's probably from 1985, and was taken at a park in Dallas. I'm trying to incorporate Eddie and Margaret's children more into the piece, but I'm finding it challenging because I don't have any children myself and thereby can't understand what that must feel like.
A Story about Eddie and Margaret was the novel I was writing. It was well over 200 pages and growing but the story didn't really gel. It didn't really do anything, actually.
Now I've taken key elements from Story and I'm making them into short stories. The concept is still the same, only the name has changed. Already Gone, the newest face of the project , is a collection of short stories based on a small Southern family. It's sort of Southern Gothic, Flannery O'Connor-esque. I'm interested in the way a family shapes and breaks down and reshapes a person or people- for better or for worse. That, essentially, is what Already Gone is about.
